Terms of Service

Effective date: 28 June 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Abdullah Taş ("Duelo", "we", "us") governing your use of duelo.dev and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. If you use Duelo on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to do so.

2. What Duelo is

Duelo is a competitive arena where developers solve real programming problems with AI assistance and earn a skill rating and reputation. Duelo uses internal reputation points and "tokens" that have no monetary value and cannot be purchased, sold, withdrawn, or exchanged for money or anything of value. No money ever enters any mechanism of the Service. Tokens and ratings exist solely for gameplay and reputation.

3. Your account

You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and take responsibility for activity under your account. One person should hold one account. Notify us at privacy@duelo.dev of any unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• cheat, collude, manipulate ratings, or use undisclosed automation to gain an unfair advantage;
• submit content that is illegal, infringing, or malicious (for example, malware), or that violates others' rights;
• harass, abuse, or harm other users;
• scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to breach the Service or its security;
• attempt to deanonymize other users or the research dataset.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Your content and the research dataset

You keep ownership of the content you create (battle logs, solutions, messages). You grant Duelo a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, display, and use that content to operate and promote the Service.

Separately, you may opt in (Settings → Data contribution) to include your solving sessions in the Duelo research dataset, which may be licensed to third parties for AI research. This is entirely optional, off by default, governed by your explicit consent, and uses only pseudonymized, secret-scrubbed data. You may withdraw at any time; withdrawal stops future inclusion.

6. Intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, and branding — belongs to Duelo and is protected by law. These Terms grant you no right to our trademarks or code except as needed to use the Service.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that ratings, verifications, or the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Duelo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, reputation, or "tokens", arising from your use of the Service. Because the Service is free and involves no money, our total liability is limited accordingly.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence continue to apply.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date and, for significant changes, notify you. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
